The Cognitive Loop is the single validity rule of HOS. Each loop runs the fixed sequence:
- Cognis — each engine's cogni does its work on its own domain [src: wiki/engines/cognitive-loop.md:7-13].
- Kernels — each Cogni runs on its own kernel (env, keys, access, data); one kernel per Cogni [src: wiki/engines/cognis-and-kernels.md:23].
- Neuralwares — plug-in capabilities equipped by a looper or datan, injected into the sequence [src: wiki/engines/cognitive-loop.md:11].
The traversal order is fixed: sapiens3 (who acts) → remotica (may it act — a denied Loop halts) → Bastion (as whom — Host token → Backpack + Wallet) → Atomic Holons (on what — physics over the Knowledge Graph) → Cognitive Loop gate (method → execute check; a failed gate bounces the Loop back) → CLand (rendered where — pad/pod in districts) → dwork (to what value — entropy → Venture/Endeavor structure, LPz on approval) → write-back of holons → the Loop closes and sparks next Loops [src: wiki/engines/cognitive-loop.md:51-60].
Halt/retry asymmetry: permission (Remotica) and identity (Bastion) failures halt; gate and quality failures (scores < 0.6) retry [src: wiki/engines/cognitive-loop.md:88-98]. Determinism comes from the gate, strict Cogni schemas, and the genome hash/verify — not from the model [src: wiki/engines/cognitive-loop.md:102].
Known gap (RUN-006): "logic.md Invariant #5 asserts confidence is in [0,1], but the cited code produces unbounded confidence and the package's own example proves it" — the cogniloop confidence bound is not enforced in code [src: wiki/engines/cognitive-loop.md:114]. Track as a build-forward item; the rule itself is unaffected.
