Owner directive (2026-07-10), canonical. "Particles (Knowledge Particles): The basic units of meaning. Datans and Humans mine, collect, and trade these. They represent insights, messages, or micro-transactions. Visually, they might appear as glowing spores, data-crystals, or seeds." AXIS NOTE (world-biome axis). "Particle" is a triple-loaded word. This card is the world-biome sense per codeland-ontology. It collides with the matter axis (matter-hierarchy: "Particle — ephemeral signal … quantum of work; smallest tracked unit") and the work axis (work-units: the 31-second DWork work particle). Always qualify: "Knowledge Particle" in world prose = the mined/tradeable unit of meaning rendered in the biome.
A Knowledge Particle is the world-rendering of meaning itself — an insight, message, or micro-transaction made visible and touchable inside a biome / dynamic-island: a glowing spore, a data-crystal, a seed [src: ...:704]. Particles are:
- Mined — refined from raw element-world Elements (unstructured data → unit of meaning).
- Collected and traded — by both datans and loopers; Datans' native routine ends with "trading Knowledge Particles" [src: ...:722]. This is the economic loop of the island — the Carson-lens example shows the trade physically registering: "As the Datans deposited their harvested Knowledge Particles into the central root-hub, the surrounding market district visibly pulsed" [src: ...:760] (owner's own prose).
- Respawned by Cycles — "Cycles govern … the respawn rates of Knowledge Particles" [src: ...:712], so meaning regenerates on the sprint/quarter rhythm (cycle-daynight).
- Clustered into Atoms — "Atoms: … A cluster of particles" [src: ...:706] — tools, contracts, island flora.
Bridge to the other axes. The same underlying object is a matter-axis particle in the knowledge graph and, when its production is scheduled, a work-axis particle in DWork. The world-biome axis adds where it lives and how it is exchanged: the daily-loop Dusk Cycle processes the day's particles into permanent landscape change [src: ...:774].
Composition
- uses: element-world (mined from), cycle-daynight (respawn), biome (habitat)
- used-by: datan + looper (mine/collect/trade), work-cell (harvesting complex Cells yields particles), node-district (markets trade them), daily-loop (Dusk processing), codeland-ontology (rung 2)
