Biome (BIOM) · biome
Owner directive (2026-07-10), canonical. "Start by defining the biom, scenaries (Slices), their components interacting with its elements, the Loop Routine of it and the immersive transition between them." [src: wiki/development/prompts-archive/by-topic/knowledge-management-and-concept-modeling.md:471]
Content
BIOM is a rung of the CodeLand element ladder (ELEMENT → COMPONENT → PAD → POD → SPOT → SITE → DISTRICT → BIOM → SPACE): "the theme background — generates effects and ambience from parameters" [src: wiki/engines/cognis-and-kernels.md:46-60]. It sits between DISTRICT (the hyper-entity) and SPACE (the whole screen / hardware connection): the BIOM wraps a District's surfaces in a parametric atmosphere — light, weather, palette, motion, sound — without owning content.
For the spatial-site, the BIOM is the first thing defined (OWNER-2026-07-10): the biom sets the environmental laws under which scenery and slices exist — "all the concepts present inside the Laws of that environment. Space, Air, Dive, Distancing, Running, Walking, beings and things with classic physics of space, time, gravity, reaction, action" [src: ...knowledge-management-and-concept-modeling.md:498-500]. In the Royal Orbit instance the biom is "old arabic letters forming the scenarios, sand and muslin brotherhood, world, security tradition and vision for emotion of the plot" [src: ...:481]. A genome-strand's brand may carry a visual biom (desert / forest / neon / deep-space) per web property [src: wiki/architecture/genome.md:40].
A remote-island is a sub-unit within a Biome [src: wiki/GLOSSARY.md:2507].
Variants
| # | Definition (verbatim) | Source | Ruling | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | "BIOM (Theme background) … BIOM (GENERATE EFFECTS and ambience based on parameters)" | [src: wiki/development/prompts-archive/by-topic/knowledge-management-and-concept-modeling.md:189] (OWNER-2026-06-12, canonized at [src: wiki/engines/cognis-and-kernels.md:59]) | canonical for the CodeLand rung / spatial rendering sense | canonical |
| B | "Biom — Self-sustaining ecosystem of ventures" (DWork work hierarchy container: Universe → Biom → Organization) | [src: wiki/engines/dwork.md:22] [src: HOS-Webdoc/web/src/lib/dwork/types.ts:95] | homonym in the DWork containment hierarchy, kept as a distinct sense; in spatial/rendering contexts sense A applies | variant (DWork sense) |
Composition
- uses: parametric effects/ambience generators, environment Laws (bm-002-splat-budget constrains cost)
- used-by: scenery and slice (exist inside a biom), spatial-site (defines it first), districts (themed by BIOM), remote-island (sub-unit of a Biome), genome-strand (brand.biom)
