Owner directive (2026-07-10), canonical. "You will have a Neural Engine to setup everything and a Neural Ware to setup the agentic components such as skills, tools, plugins and whaterver the current level of development the AI companies are using. But don't forget these are only Heirlooms to be used, perfected, changed, learned, teached" [src: wiki/development/prompts-archive/by-topic/knowledge-management-and-concept-modeling.md:683-685]
Content
An Heirloom is the ontological class of everything a being carries rather than is: the neural-engine, every neuralware, skills, tools, plugins, "and whaterver the current level of development the AI companies are using" (sic) [src: ...knowledge-management-and-concept-modeling.md:683]. Heirlooms are inherited craft objects — passed down, "used, perfected, changed, learned, teached" [src: ...:685] — never the being itself.
The concept exists to draw a hard line through the intelligence stack:
| Side | What lives there |
|---|---|
| Being | the datan ("a non-biological specie of being") and its loopseed — constitutive, symbiotic, non-transferable [src: ...:685] |
| Heirloom | neural-engine, neuralware, gear-sets, skills, tools, plugins — instrumental, transferable, improvable, teachable |
Consequences of the rule:
- Vendor-agnosticism. Whatever agent frameworks, models, or plugins the AI industry currently ships are Heirlooms — swappable craft, not identity. The system never fuses a being to a tool generation.
- Progression rides Heirlooms. In the CodeLand world, "Neural Wares allow Datans to process more complex Cells and allow Humans to unlock new interaction modes" and are "Acquired in specific Districts" [src: ...:728] — certifications and gear-sets are Heirloom-borne, so a being's inventory can grow without its nature changing.
- Teachability. Because Heirlooms are "learned, teached", they circulate through the academy path of districts and between squad members — craft transmission is a first-class mechanic.
Composition
- uses: neuralware (the canonical Heirloom family), neural-engine (itself classed as an Heirloom), gear-sets (curated Heirloom loadouts)
- used-by: datan and looper (carry and inherit them), certification (certifications ride Neural Wares), work-cell (Heirloom inventory gates which cells are acceptable)
