An Endeavor Tool is the in-world manifestation of an endeavor: a gadget or piece of equipment that enables the ability to craft the work. Where a venture appears as a living being (venture-animal), an endeavor appears as the instrument an actor wields.

Grounded: "the endeavors (Tools) and ventures (animals) should also be visible" in the always-on XWorld view [src: wiki/HOS-Complete-Reference.md:26471] — the endeavors-as-Tools reading predates the CODELAND directive; the same passage grounds endeavor levels and certification ("their levels (Junior, Mid-Level, Senior, Master, and Specialist) … necessary to certify … to accept/start endeavors over ventures"), which the world layer inherits as certification.

OWNER-2026-07-10 world layer. In the quests-mapping: "Endeavors (Side Quests/Campaigns): Specific, localized projects. Completing an Endeavor unlocks new territory on the island or upgrades a specific District" [src: ...knowledge-management-and-concept-modeling.md:746]. So the Tool has two faces:

  1. Equipment — held/used by loopers and datans to craft the work of work-cells; the endeavor's playbooks and specializations are the tool's affordances. Capability upgrades to use better tools come from neuralwares "Acquired in specific Districts" [src: ...:728].
  2. Side Quest — pursuing the endeavor is a campaign whose completion physically expands the dynamic-island: new territory unlocked, a node-district upgraded [src: ...:746].

Tools surface in-scene under the diegetic-ui rule — as craftable, equippable objects in pods, not menu entries. In dwork terms the endeavor remains the trade/work initiative inside its hosting venture; the Tool is its world-biome rendering, per the axis discipline of codeland-ontology.
